People are often surprised when they find out I don’t own a huge perfume collection.
As a perfume blogger, I get to smell and test plenty of fragrances throughout the year. But when it comes to the bottles I actually buy with my own money, I keep things simple. I prefer a small rotation that covers different seasons, occasions, and moods rather than shelves full of perfumes that rarely get worn.
That also means I don’t own all of these fragrances at the same time. My collection changes as bottles run out or my needs shift. These are the fragrances I return to because they’ve proven themselves over time. I know how they wear, when they work best, and what I can expect every time I reach for them.
1. Burberry Her Elixir

When I want something sweet without feeling overdone, I come back to Burberry Her Elixir. It’s creamy, fruity, and easy to wear, especially during the spring season or evenings out. It’s one of those fragrances that feels comfortable, and I never have to second-guess whether it suits the occasion.
2. Chloé Nomade Nuit d’Égypte

Some fragrances feel right when you want a little more depth without becoming too heavy. Chloé Nomade Nuit d’Égypte sits comfortably in that space for me. It has a warm aroma that works particularly well in the evening and during the cooler months, while still feeling polished enough for dinners, events, or occasions where I want something with a bit more presence.
3. Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land

I’m selective about rose fragrances, but Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land has earned a permanent place on my shortlist. The rose feels clean and incredibly easy to wear. I reach for it when I want something versatile that still feels put together, whether I’m heading to meetings, spending the day out, or travelling.
4. Amouage Lilac Love

There are days when I want my fragrance to feel a little richer, and that’s when Amouage Lilac Love comes out. It’s the bottle I associate with evenings and special occasions (so much so that I’m thinking of having it be my bridal fragrance).
5. Diptyque Tam Dao Eau de Parfum

Diptyque Tam Dao Eau de Parfum fits almost anywhere. Its smooth, woody profile works throughout the year, and it’s one of the easiest fragrances in my collection to wear during the day. This is another reliable option that is versatile and could easily be someone’s signature scent.
6. Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense

Every collection benefits from a fragrance that feels at home in warm weather, and Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense has filled that role for me more than once. It’s the perfume I think about when summer arrives. It has remained one of the easiest bottles for me to replace because I know exactly when I’ll reach for it.
Why I Keep My Fragrance Collection Minimal
Testing fragrances for work has made me more selective about the bottles I actually buy. I no longer feel the need to own dozens of perfumes at once. I’d rather have a handful that I genuinely enjoy wearing and know I’ll finish than collect bottles simply for the sake of having more options.
A smaller collection also makes it easier to appreciate each fragrance. Every bottle has a purpose, whether it’s for summer afternoons, evening plans, travel, work, or days when I want something familiar without having to think twice.
These six fragrances have earned their place because they’ve stayed reliable over the years. My collection may change, but I know there’s a good chance I’ll find myself buying one of them again when the time comes.
