Dior, founded by French designer Christian Dior, is a French brand with its headquarters in Paris and a significant heritage rooted in Normandy. The fashion house established its reputation as a symbol of Parisian elegance and French haute couture.

The Dior house was one of the brands that helped Paris in restoring its status as the global capital of fashion. You’d think that Christian Dior grew up in a very fashionable environment. But that wasn’t the case. Christian Dior’s father owned a fertilizer business, albeit a very successful one. So successful that it funded Christian’s early life and the creation of the House of Dior. 

The first Dior perfume was Miss Dior, launched in 1947 alongside Christian Dior’s very first fashion collection. This iconic green chypre was inspired by Christian’s sister, Catherine Dior, who grew up in exile in Provence and was a resistance fighter. She later moved to Paris, where Christian was working in fashion design, and became a flower merchant herself.

J’adore by Dior is a very nostalgic scent to me, as my mom used to wear it when I was a little girl. I see it as the epitome of class and elegance. While you can find many similar scents to J’adore today, when it came out, it was one of a kind. It is the OG fragrance with this scent DNA.

This perfume is sensual, dark, and feminine. I don’t wear it often because I find it to be an absolutely date-night fragrance. There are a lot of notes listed for this fragrance, and if I’m being honest, I don’t quite distinguish them all. But this scent is definitely more complex than just almond and vanilla (both are notes that I love).

It saddens me how underrated this gem by Dior is. Dior Dune (available for both men and women) is an excellent scent that is not talked about enough.

I would always describe it as a citrus-forward fragrance, although you’d expect it to be more woody and musky. The scent itself is warm, sweet, and breezy without being too heavy, salty, or woodsy. This versatile scent can be worn all year round and makes for a gorgeous signature scent.

In my opinion, the Dior Pour Homme Cologne is a great choice for both men and women. It is a light, soft cologne, and it is just beautiful. If you’re looking for a light, inoffensive scent that does not lean toward the boring side of clean perfumes, this citrus aromatic is the way to go.

This Dior cologne is proof that things don’t need to be complex to be good. It’s everything you’d want in a summer fragrance. It is bright, clean, effortless, refreshing, undeniably refined, and quietly confident. Lowkey smells like lemonade.

Oud Ispahan is a mature and businesslike take on oud perfumes. While it is not my favorite oud scent, it remains a beloved fragrance among many, and I had to include it in this list. If you’ve never tried oud perfumes before, I recommend starting with something less full-bodied.

That being said, Oud Ispahan has a strong presence of rose and oud, and a touch of saffron. Those are the most prominent notes in the scent. As the rose and oud settle down and make room for other woody and floral notes. It is a nice blend, and I can see why many people love it. Maybe you would too.
