Tobacco & All Its Flavours: A Multifaceted Fragrance Note

I’m going to start by saying that Tobacco doesn’t smell like smoke and ash whatsoever. In fact, white tobacco and tobacco blossoms smell sweet, with opulent floral notes and a subtle hay-and-leather scent, with a dry floral tonality that is very inviting. On the other hand, tobacco can also smell like a rich, nuanced, warm, and sweet herbaceous scent, with notes of whiskey, caramel, and hay.

Let’s take a look at these very enticing and intoxicating tobacco fragrances.

1. Nishane Fan Your Flames Extrait de Parfum

A vacation filled with rum and coconuts, what a dream. Fan Your Flames mirrors an intoxicating dream-like vacation image that keeps you wanting more. The amazing harmony of oakmoss/tonka bean, tobacco, rum and coconut. The scent quality and longevity are exceptional as well. But I will say this warm scent is not a safe blind buy; try it out first, as it is quite polarising.

2. Guerlain Tobacco Honey EDP

Guerlain launched Tobacco Honey in September 2023 as a part of the  L’Art & La Matière collection. They paired golden sweetness with depth and shadow in a fascinating blend of tobacco, honey, oud, and other creamy and decadent aromas. I would compare this to Tobacco Vanille, just add a whole lot of honey to it.

3. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille EDP

Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford is an intoxicating fragrance and one of my favourites by the brand. This fragrance has notes of both the blossom and leaf of the tobacco plant. Therefore, we get a chance to see this multifaceted nature of this amazing note in a unique take on traditional vanilla scents.

4. Maison Margiela Replica Jazz Club EDT

Another fragrance on the list which features rum and tobacco in its notes. But Jazz Club fromthe Replica line by Maison Margiela paints a different image than the first fragrance mentioned here. This fragrance takes you into a jazz club where rum and cigars are enjoyed indoors among perfumed, well-dressed strangers. A fragrance for the gentleman with eccentric taste.

5. Bvlgari BLV EDT

Moving on to the final fragrance on this list, BLV by Bvlgari. To be fair, the tobacco in this scent is detected slightly in the background and is quite faint. Not as prominent as the ginger and cardamom, at least. This gives a clean, soapy effect, making this fragrance a safe blind buy, as I can’t see how it could be offensive to anyone. Perfect for the office and everyday wear.
