Okay, looking at the notes for Scandal Elixir, a blackberry as a top note is intriguing. I’m imagining a potentially sparkling opening. Maybe a tart berry cutting through the earthiness. It could be a really interesting juxtaposition. I wonder if it’ll be more of a classic, elegant or a completely modern, fruity take.
Then we have Iris in the middle. That usually translates to a powdery, almost makeup-like scent, very elegant. It could soften that initial blackberry accord and add a touch of refinement. The patchouli at the base will definitely ground it and give it some depth. It can be a bit earthy, even chocolate-y sometimes. I’m guessing the overall scent will be a sophisticated, slightly sweet.
I personally love the idea of iris and patchouli together in a perfume, but I would have wished for a sweeter fruity note than blackberry at the opening. That being said, I might be wrong and end up falling in love with this flanker of scandal, especially considering that I love the other flankers (both female and male versions) in this line.
2. Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Pour Homme Elixir

Scandal Pour Homme Elixir is the for him version of this scent. It is also a scent with a fruity opening, but this version looks sweeter than the “for her” one, with a sweeter fruit at the opening and tonka at the base. Black Cherry at the top has me thinking: dark, syrupy sweetness, almost like a cherry liqueur. It’s a very distinctive note. I’m curious to see if it’ll be a photorealistic cherry or a more abstract, perfumey interpretation. It’s definitely going to give it a gourmand vibe right off the bat.
Then we have Patchouli in the heart, which is generally earthy and woody and can be slightly sweet. This could balance out the cherry and keep it from being too cloying. And finally, Tonka bean at the base. That’s warm, almond-y, with vanilla and a hint of spice. It’s going to make the dry down very addictive. Sounds like a perfect winter fragrance if you ask me.
Based on the notes alone and not trying these fragrances yet, I feel like I would like the Pour Homme take of this scent more than the for her version. But let’s wait and see.
