Today, our spotlight falls on Quentin Bisch, a man whose electric energy and dramatic flair have made him one of the most sought-after star perfumers in the industry. Originally a student of music and the artistic director of a performing arts company, Bisch brings a theatrical sensibility to his fragrance creations. Let’s take a look at his journey from the stage to the laboratory and discover how he became the artist he is today.
From the Stage to the Laboratory

Born in Strasbourg, France, in 1983, Quentin Bisch spent his childhood between France and London. His early memories are defined by scent: the aroma of freshly baked biscuits in paper wrappers and the crisp, raw cucumbers served at his school lunches. His obsession with perfumery was famously sparked by his French teacher, whose trail of YSL Opium fascinated him and planted the seed for his future career.
However, the road wasn’t easy. Bisch was initially rejected by the ISIPCA perfumery school because he lacked a formal background in chemistry. Rather than giving up, he spent several years in the performing arts before his passion led him back to Grasse for a life-changing internship. Eventually, his talent earned him a spot at the Givaudan Perfumery School. He debuted in fine fragrance in 2010, and by 2020, he was honoured as the year’s best perfumer.
Style and Philosophy
Quentin Bisch describes himself as a perfectionist who is constantly creating perfumes in his mind. He directs his scent compositions much like a theatre performance, utilising strong ideas, careful embellishments, and surprising effects to create an emotional impact.
Bisch relies on intuition and hard work. He believes in being honest with himself and his audience, striving to create modern fragrances that will eventually turn into classics.
Notable Creations
1. Amouage Guidance 46 Extrait De Parfum

Guidance 46 by Amouage is a remarkable unisex extrait that showcases Bisch’s ability to handle high concentrations and complex layers. This fragrance is a reimagining of the original Guidance, deepening the notes of pear, hazelnut, and rose with a potent trail of frankincense and ambrette.
2. Carolina Herrera Good Girl

One of the most recognisable fragrances in the world, Good Girl is a celebration of the duality of womanhood. Bisch masterfully blended the light, luminous notes of tuberose and jasmine sambac with the dark, addictive qualities of roasted tonka bean and cocoa. The result is a bold, sophisticated scent.
3. Azzaro Wanted By Night

Azzaro Wanted By Night is an intense, spicy, and woody fragrance designed for the man who owns the night. Bisch created a vibrant composition featuring cinnamon, cedarwood, and tobacco. It is warm and sensual, a fragrance that perfectly captures the electric energy Bisch is known for.
