Orange blossom is famously found in sweeter scents. It’s a light floral note that, when mixed with vanilla, gives the overall perfume a marshmallow aroma. But what does orange blossom really smell like?
As I mentioned, orange blossoms are sweet. But they are a bit more complex than that. Orange blossoms come off as a honeyed scent. With fresh, green, and sometimes citrusy or soapy undertones, how they come off in a scent can slightly differ according to what they’re mixed with. They are often described as radiant, creamy, or even slightly animalic.
Without further ado, here are some of our favourite fragrances that happen to have an orange blossom note.
For Her:
1. D&G Devotion Intense EDP

| Brand | Dolce & Gabbana |
| Best for | Women |
| Fragrance Family | Amber Vanilla |
| Notes | Top: Hazelnut Middle: Orange Blossom Base: Vanilla |
| Release year | 2024 |
| Projection | Moderate |
| Perfumer | Olivier Cresp |
The orange blossom note in Devotion Intense brings it together perfectly. Accompanied by vanilla and hazelnut notes, orange blossom amps up the sweetness and adds a hint of freshness, elevating the scent.
My favourite part of this perfume is the dry down, as it is very vanilla-dominated, with a hint of toasty hazelnut and sweet orange blossom. For the most part, you’ll end up smelling like a yummy dessert all day as this women’s fragrance is long-lasting.
2. Prada Candy Kiss EDP

| Highlights | Details |
|---|---|
| Brand | Prada |
| Best for | Women |
| Fragrance Family | Amber Vanilla |
| Notes | Top: Musk Middle: Musk and Orange Blossom Base: Musk and Vanilla |
| Release year | 2016 |
| Projection | Moderate |
| Perfumer | Daniela Andrier |
Prada Candy Kiss belongs to the collection of playful gourmand scents Prada Candy, which includes the original from 2011, Prada Candy L’Eau from 2013 and Prada Candy Florale from 2014. In 2015, the Candy Kiss Collection was introduced, consisting of the three original scents.
Candy Kiss carries the same sweet DNA as the other Candy flankers, with a focus on musk, leaning more towards an animalic fragrance profile. The orange blossom and vanilla are just there to add a hint of sweetness and slightly uplift the scent.
For Him:
1. YSL Myslf EDP

| Highlights | Details |
|---|---|
| Brand | Yves Saint Laurent |
| Best for | Men |
| Fragrance Family | Aromatic |
| Notes | Top: Calabrian Bergamot and Bergamot Middle: Tunisian Orange Blossom Base: Ambrofix™ and Patchouli |
| Release year | 2023 |
| Projection | Moderate |
| Perfumer | Christophe Raynaud, Antoine Maisondieu, and Daniela Andrier |
Myself by YSL is a simple, versatile, dare I say, unisex fragrance. While it is marketed towards men, I believe anyone can wear this at anytime time of day, anywhere. This is a very clean scent that smells just like you just got out of the shower.
Myself is a sweet, soapy floral scent that is super fresh and airy. The orange blossom at the heart creates a bridge between the citrus opening and the grounding base. Suitable for daily wear, this fragrance is neither too loud nor overwhelming.
2. JPG Le Male EDT

| Highlights | Details |
|---|---|
| Brand | Jean Paul Gaultier |
| Best for | Men |
| Fragrance Family | Amber Fougere |
| Notes | Top: Lavender, Mint, Cardamom, Bergamot, and Artemisia Middle: Cinnamon, Orange Blossom, and Caraway Base: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Amber, Sandalwood, and Cedar |
| Release year | 1995 |
| Projection | High – Moderate |
| Perfumer | Francis Kurkdjian |
Intensive and sensible, modern, and comfortably warm, masculine and gentle. Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier is built on the concept of balance. Created in 1995, it captures the times with a mix of the fading grunge and emerging Y2K styles.
Today, Le Male remains very relevant, especially as we grow more nostalgic for the 90s. Le Male isn’t a bold scent, as it is built around balancing bold with soft masculinity. Notes like orange blossom, tonka bean, and vanilla help create that balance.
Unisex
1. Maison Margiela Replica By the Fireplace EDT

| Highlights | Details |
|---|---|
| Brand | Maison Martin Margiela |

Replica – By the Fireplace by Maison Margelia is a warm, woody, winter scent. While the orange blossom isn’t prominent but it blends well with the heavier, more flavorful notes.
Overall, By the Fireplace is a well-blended perfume. The notes come together to create a harmonious scent that evokes the image of cosying up next to a fireplace, wrapped in a soft blanket, with a hot spiced drink.
2. Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne

| Highlights | Details |
|---|---|
| Brand | Jo Malone |
| Best for | Unisex |
| Fragrance Family | Floral |
| Notes | Top: Tangerine Blossom Middle: Orange Blossom, Lilac, and Water Lily Base: Iris and Vetiver |
| Release year | 2003 |
| Projection | High – Moderate |
| Perfumer | Jean Claude Delville |
Last but not least, Orange Blossom by Jo Malone. The most orange blossom-forward fragrance on the list. This fragrance was inspired by the romantic atmosphere of staying in the hotel Bel Air in Los Angeles.
Orange blossom, like all Jo Malone fragrances, can be combined and layered with other fragrances. This one best goes with White Jasmine & Mint or with Blue Agava & Cacao by the same brand. I would recommend this as an everyday summer fragrance.
