Amouage, the Omani luxury fragrance house, has revealed its latest creation, Sindbad, a fragrance born from a unique collaboration with the Royal Opera House Muscat. This partnership brings together scent and opera to create a unique sensory experience.
The Gift of Kings
Founded in 1983 by Prince Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi at the request of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, Amouage was conceived as “The Gift of Kings,” a brand that would redefine Arabian perfumery.
Amouage is committed to its Omani heritage, which is evident in the design of its bottles. The women’s fragrance cap resembles the dome of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and the men’s cap is inspired by the handle of the traditional Omani Khanjar dagger. Today, Amouage fragrances are available in over 80 countries.
A Stage for Global Culture

The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) stands as Oman’s premier venue for musical arts and culture. Built under the direction of Sultan Qaboos of Oman, the ROHM reflects contemporary Omani architecture and accommodates up to 1,100 guests.
Since opening on October 12, 2011, the ROHM has hosted performances by well-known artists such as Plácido Domingo and Andrea Bocelli, as well as performances from around the globe. The opera house also includes landscaped gardens, a cultural market, restaurants, and an art center. The ROHM is committed to education and outreach, offering programs for children, teachers, and families.
Sindbad
The collaboration between Amouage and the Royal Opera House Muscat has resulted in Sindbad, a fragrance inspired by the opera “Sindbad: The Omani Sailor,” which debuted on October 3, 2025. The opera tells the story of Sindbad’s quest for the ‘Magic Perfume’ to guide him to the lost ship of Princess Hayat. The fragrance captures the themes of transformation, longing, and discovery present in the opera’s storyline.

Created by perfumer Pierre Negrin, Sindbad is a woody spicy unisex fragrance. The fragrance journey begins with top notes of honey, tangerine, apricot, pomegranate, cardamom, ginger, pink pepper, grapefruit, and mango. The middle notes feature cappuccino, davana, and black tea, leading to base notes of labdanum, patchouli, cedarwood, vetiver, cypriol, tonka bean, and vanilla.

The creation of Sindbad involved unique processes. The perfume concentrate was infused for six months with high-quality, decades-old sandalwood chips. The bio-ethanol used to dilute the concentrate was stored in custom-made oak barrels for a similar period. The fragrance is presented as a 30% essence de parfum.

The Sindbad bottle is designed with a relief inspired by desert sands, forming the twelve-pointed Amouage emblem. The base is engraved with celestial maps and the logo of the Royal Opera House Muscat. The box sleeve features an illustration by Louise Mertens, who runs a fine art studio based in Antwerp, Belgium, and had previously worked with the Omani brand.
The fragrance is available in 100ml bottles, exclusively at the Royal Opera House Muscat and selected Amouage boutiques across Oman.
