The Khamrah line by Lattafa has been highly successful so far. Consisting of three fragrances, the collection has mostly offered a winter and fall scent profile. But this changes with Lattafa’s latest launch, Waha. Unlike the previous releases in the Khamrah collection, this fourth launch happens to be a fresh, cool-as-a-cucumber parfum d'été.
Let’s take a closer look at Waha and its note breakdown. For more on the other three Khamrah fragrances, read cet article.

To understand Waha, we have to look at its highly refreshing, unexpectedly complex note pyramid.
Haut
Le parfum s'ouvre sur un éclat d'agrumes. Bergamot offers a sunny tartness, while yuzu, a Japanese citrus, provides a sharper, slightly bitter zing. This opening also has a ginger note, which adds a sparkling effervescence. Alongside it, juniper brings a piney and gin-like coolness that instantly sets a refreshing tone for the entire wear.
Le cœur
The heart of the fragrance carries the most cooling note: cucumber. This note provides a watery, incredibly cooling sensation that gives Waha its distinct identity. Accompanying the cucumber is a pincée de sel, which adds a briny, marine, and airy quality, making the fragrance feel like an ocean breeze. The heart also features sage and iris, meant to introduce a touch of earthy herbalness to the blend.
La Base
The base switches back to the original Khamra DNA with notes of vanille, tonka bean, musk, Ambrofix™, and Akigalawood. In a typical Khamrah fragrance, vanilla and tonka are ever so present. But they happen to be slightly overshadowed by the Ambrofix. The akigalawood note isn’t very dominant, though. Ambrofix is a haute that tends to project and last for hours after the fragrance has faded.
The Overall Scent
The powdery iris and herbal sage are placed right next to heavily aquatic, dominant notes like cucumber and sea salt, and directly beneath that sharp yuzu and ginger opening. Car aquatique et forte notes d'agrumes are highly volatile, the iris and sage are pushed into the deep background. You will barely smell them as distinct notes.
This unique note breakdown makes Waha vastly different from the rest of the Khamrah collection. By swapping heavy resins, incense notes and baking spices for yuzu, cucumber, and sea salt, Waha trades a cosy fireplace vibe for a crisp, refreshing ocean-side aroma. It is airy, vibrant, and bright, whereas the others are heavy and dark.
You might wonder how a fresh cucumber-citrus scent even belongs in the Khamrah line. The secret lies in the deep dry-down. By including vanille and tonka bean in the base, lattafa ensures that Waha retains just a touch of the Khamrah DNA. As the citruses and salty aquatics begin to mellow out after a few hours, the fragrance warms up on the skin. It leaves behind a creamy, sweet, and musky woody scent.
