Dolce & Gabbana adds a new member to its Devotion family, making this the third women’s fragrance in the collection, apart from the limited edition, Devotion Sacred Heart EDP, and two Pour Homme versions (Pour Homme and Pour Homme Parfum).
“Dolce & Gabbana My Devotion Eau de Parfum Intense is a tribute to personal dedication and authenticity. A fragrance that reflects the uniqueness of its wearer through a harmonious contrast of radiant notes and enveloping accents.”
The nose behind this floral gourmand was none other than Olivier Cresp, the same nose behind hundreds of different perfumes, most notably Club de Nuit Maleka by Armaf, CH by Carolina Herrera, and all the Black Opiums by Yves Saint Laurent. This isn’t his first rodeo with D&G either. He’s done all the Devotion flankers, Light Blue, and the 11 flankers of Light Blue.
The Devotion fragrances are generally well-liked and are often compared to Cresp’s creations with Mugler, but “with a unique twist.” So, does this latest edition to the collection compare? Let’s take a closer look at it and see.

The first thing that catches my attention in My Devotion Intense is how simple the composition is. Two notes at the top, one in the heart, and one in the base. The scent of fragrances with fewer notes is generally easier to discern without trying; it’s when the notes are numerous and complex that it becomes harder to read a perfume.
Let’s go through this simple, yet rich scent, note by note. The pear blossoms at the opening have a delicate, subtly sweet, and floral fragrance with hints of fruitiness. These are accompanied by a black currant note, a fruity, sweet, and tart note with green and slightly woody undertones. The heart is composed of a note of peony, a floral note that gives off the scent of blended rose, jasmine, and gillyflower. Finally, we have the heart, which features a lone note of Madagascar vanilla. Madagascar vanilla has a rich, deep, warm, and sultry aroma, often with a sweet, creamy, and slightly spicy or balsamic character.
This fragrance is simple, balanced, and rich in character. I tend to like fragrances with fewer notes overall, because it means we get a fragrance that is richer in those specific notes, and most of the time, you can tell what you’re getting. These are the fragrances that I would classify as an easy blind buy. That is not to say I don’t enjoy complex scents, but I prefer trying those and giving them time to dry down on my skin before committing to a bottle.
Back to My Devotion. Yes, it is another gourmand being put out there, but I’d still give it a go. I highly appreciate the simplicity of this scent, as you know what you’re getting. What are your thoughts? Would you consider adding this new fragrance by Dolce & Gabbana to your collection?
