Enchanting Woody Fragrances For Her

Woody perfumes tend to be aromatic and earthy, composed of notes derived from woods, resins, moss, and bark. Most woody fragrances are marketed to men or as unisex perfumes, and while I believe you can wear whatever you want regardless of who it’s marketed to, here are some woody fragrances made for her (I included one unisex fragrance).

While these fragrances aren’t categorised in the woody fragrance family, they still have dominant woody notes. Common notes include sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, and oud.

1. D&G Dolce Blue Jasmine EDP

Dolce Blue Jasmine by Dolce & Gabbana is a floral-fruity fragrance, yet the dominant notes are the jasmine from the heart and the subtle cedarwood in the base. You can smell the sweetness of the fig doing its thing in the background as well. What I love most about this perfume is that it is very wearable, making it suitable for office wear and running errands throughout the day. Simple and pretty.

2. Diptyque Ofresia EDT

Ofresia by Diptyque opens with a bright floral profile and a hint of pepper, but as it dries down, the woody accords truly come to life. This is another soft, pretty fragrance to add to the list. Perfect for spring mornings, Ofresia puts you in tune with the world coming back to life during this lovely season.

3. Hermès Barénia EDP

Barénia is a deeper, more sophisticated take on women’s woody fragrances. Suited for business meetings or other serious affairs, this fragrance will make you feel like you’re on top of the world and can take on anything. Very well blended and put together, this Hermès creation is the perfect woody, earthy scent while keeping it juicy and unique.

4. Mancera Indian Dream EDP

The complexity of Indian Dream by Mancera makes it truly magnificent. Sure, it’s another floral woody blend, but it still maintains a unique character all its own. To me, it smells as though you’ve crushed fresh flowers and vanilla inside a wooden box, allowing the scents to meld together perfectly. I highly recommend this for rainy, late winter days; Pierre Montale managed to capture that specific mood beautifully.

5. Dior Oud Ispahan EDP

The sole unisex fragrance on this list is the iconic Oud Ispahan by Dior. I felt compelled to include it because I have previously stated it wasn’t one of my favourite oud scents. However, I revisited it the other day, and I was completely won over. I finally understand the hype; the scent is gorgeous, complex, masterfully blended, and incredibly sophisticated.
