The inspiration behind Amouage Opus XIV Royal Tobacco is Cuban cigar rollers, who would often be read to by “El lector,” a person hired to share stories with the workers as they rolled cigars.
The tobacco note blends so well with the other notes, giving off a beautiful scent reminiscent of fall. This fragrance smells like smoking pipe tobacco in a forest during early fall. The sun’s rays gently beam down on you as you’re surrounded by colorful dry leaves.

Smoke and wood are the scents I initially get from Incense Oud. This fragrance reminds me of the smell of an old Middle Eastern church.
Somewhere in the mountains of Lebanon stands an old church in the woods. The day is calm, and the weather is perfect as the incense burns inside the church, calling passersby to walk in. And it smells just like this fragrance.

Another fragrance that gets its smoky accords from the tobacco note. Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford is an intoxicating, polarizing fragrance that you either love or hate.
I personally love this scent. The sweetness of the vanilla, tonka bean, and cacao blends beautifully with the smokiness of tobacco. This scent is definitely not as common, and it might take some getting used to for some. I find it to be rich and sophisticated, but it is not my favorite on this list, still.

You probably saw this coming… Introducing my favorite on this list. Relica By the Fireplace by Maison Margiela. My idea of a good time is curling up by the fireplace with a good book, snacking on chestnuts.
By the Fireplace takes me to my happy place straight up. It reminds me a bit of Tobacco Vanille, but with a woody smokiness instead of a tobacco smokiness. This fragrance wears beautifully in the winter, but I do find it to be a bit of a headache inducer during the warmer months.

Last but not least, a subtle smoky aquatic by Essenza. Electra leans slightly more masculine but can be worn by anyone who appreciates a basic aquatic with a kick to it.
That’s what the tobacco note does here, really, adds a little spice. Otherwise, it is very subtle; you can hardly tell it’s there. Electra makes an ideal everyday office fragrance as it isn’t offensive, yet it has a little extra something.
