The first time I heard about Rasasi was back in 2008. I was visiting the UAE from Lebanon when my mother asked me if I could get her some of their perfumes. She had heard about the brand from my uncle, who had lived his entire adult life in Dubai. He had told her that Rasasi offered affordable, high-quality Arabian fragrances. Mind you, Lebanon didn’t have access to these brands back in the day, and most Arabian fragrances would cost you quite a bit.
My mom, being the perfume-obsessed person that she is, just had to get her hands on these fragrances. So she asked me and my brother for one thing to get her back from the UAE: Rasasi perfumes. Just to clarify, she always asked for perfumes every time we traveled, but this time, she requested a specific brand.
My brother and I looked in every mall we entered in Abu Dhabi until we found Rasasi perfumes. I don’t remember which mall it was precisely, but I do remember that excitement we felt when we found them. That is what I think of every time I hear the name Rasasi.
Rasasi is a UAE-based brand founded in 1979. It is now internationally recognized for its high-quality, luxurious fragrances. Many of us in the Middle East have created a special bond with this brand, and many continue to do so.

Shuhrah is one of my favorite perfumes by Rasasi. This scent is so nostalgic to me, and so many aspects of it remind me of my grandmother and her house.
The sage and lemon remind me of a warm drink my grandma used to make me, and the floral notes in the heart remind me of her garden. The base of this perfume is warm and grounding, with notes of patchouli, oud, musk, and ambergris. This perfume, to me, is an embodiment of my childhood in the Levant.
