You Don’t Have to Guess the Best Guess Perfumes – for Her

Guess feels like it’s one of those brands that has always been around. I remember wearing one of their perfumes as a teenager (which I have included in this article), and I currently own a hand-me-down purse that belonged to my mother back in the day. So, before listing the best (my favourite) Guess women’s perfumes, let’s briefly discuss the brand’s history.

Founded in 1981 by the Marciano brothers in Los Angeles, who left the south of France to chase the American dream, Guess revolutionised denim by blending French style with American ruggedness, notably through their iconic stonewashed, three-zip Marilyn jeans. The brand grew rapidly, becoming a global lifestyle icon known for sexy, black-and-white advertising campaigns and, later, a wide range of accessories and apparel. The first Guess perfume, simply named Guess Original for women, was introduced in the late 1980s through a partnership with Revlon, with James Bell as the perfumer.

1. Guess 1981 Indigo EDT

1981 Indigo by Guess was gifted to me one summer, and I wore it every day. It is a classic, floral-aquatic summer scent. Reading the notes, it seems more complex than the scent really is, as the notes are really well blended. The aquatic aroma stood out to me, and I loved the hint of sweet wine in the background. I would love to repurchase this to wear to the office as the weather starts to get warmer soon.

2. Guess By Marciano EDP

Seeing how citrus-forward By Marciano is, you would assume it’s a summer scent; instead, you get a warmer fragrance that is more suitable for fall. That is due to the sweetness and cosiness we get from the combination of honeysuckle, jasmine, vanilla, musk, and woody notes. I couldn’t figure out which year exactly this perfume came out, but it is very reminiscent of the mid-2000s. It is very nostalgic and safe.

3. Guess Seductive EDT

Seductive by Guess has many flankers, but I have decided to include the original in this listicle because I find it to be suited to most tastes and a crowd-pleaser. This is a fragrance that wouldn’t do well in extreme weather, though. Therefore, I recommend it mostly for spring and fall. The white florals are dominant, and the dry down is deep and warm, making it perfect for rainy days as well.

4. Guess Bella Vita EDP

A gorgeous gourmand fragrance, Bella Vita makes the perfect signature scent if you are looking to smell sweet and yummy all the time. It is pretty versatile except for extreme heat. So, if you live in the Gulf or any other region with intense summer, I’d recommend you save it for the rest of the year. Apart from that, this compliment-getter will not let you down.

5. Guess Gold EDP

Finally, we have a classic from 2007. Gold by Guess is such a familiar fragrance, from bottle to juice, that you can’t help but feel the nostalgia just by looking at it. The sandalwood is creamy and blends well with the vanilla and musk, creating a very sensual scent. If you’re looking for a cheap date-night perfume, this is a safe bet.
