Juliette Has a Gun is a descendant of Nina Ricci, well, the founder of the brand is, at least. Founded in 2006 by Romano Ricci, the great-grandson of the legendary fashion designer Nina Ricci, the brand reimagines Shakespeare’s Juliet as a symbol of rebellion. Announced as an original fragrance with an original name, Another Oud is meant to present a unique take on popular oud fragrances. I believe they achieve this to a certain extent, with the framboise softening the intensity and making the aroma a little flirtatious. This is an excellent fall or winter fragrance for those who want to try oud but prefer it mixed with something slightly playful.

Another star with a note de framboise (and I’m starting to realize I’m very fond of this note). Juliette Has a Gun’s Mmmm… is wonderfully poudreux et sucré, and it wears beautifully in the spring. While the heart of white florals can feel a bit basic, the rich notes of vanilla, caramel, and raspberry add so much color and life to the fragrance.

The dry down leans slightly metallic due to the note d'ambroxan, but this note also grounds the scent and adds a warm quality that would be missing otherwise. Lastly, for the oud lovers, we have In the Mood for Oud. I was hesitant to include another parfum de oud on this list, but to be fair, this one is completely different from the previously mentioned scent. While it could be a bit more oud-forward, it still beautifully does the job. The tonka bean blends seamlessly with the oud to create a chestnut-like aroma, while the safran adds incredible depth and richness. Though it isn’t the strongest oud perfume on the market, it remains an excellent, highly wearable option.
